WORKPLACE SAFETY
Cash-Handling
- Always keep petty cash at a minimum.
- Stamp checks with a “For Deposit Only” stamp upon receipt.
- Do not allow large amounts of cash to accumulate in an unprotected area.
- Never count cash under public observation.
- A silent hold-up alarm should be placed near cash-handling areas.
Preventing Shoplifting/Theft
- All unguarded exits should be locked from the inside.
- Window views should be unobstructed by signs, shrubs, plants or trees.
- When possible, create open floor plans where items do not obstruct views.
- Never allow visitors to roam unescorted in unauthorized areas.
- Use Custom Security stickers or yard signs near entrances.

Employee Safety
- All entrances, parking areas and garages should be well-lit.
- Two people should participate in opening/closing whenever possible.
- Never allow an employee to work alone before or after business hours.
- Develop an emergency response plan and keep employees informed.
- Keep numbers for police, fire, medical and security near each phone.
- Integrate an access control system for all employees.
